The Crankshaft Position Sensor may be located behind the harmonic balancer, onÂ
the front of the crankshaft, inserted into the transmission bell housing or directly into theÂ
engine block at the crankshaft level.
Crankshaft Position Sensor The Crankshaft Position Sensor is required by the computer to locate theÂ
crankshaft position which is used by the computer for ignition timing and fuel injectionÂ
timing control.
Failure Symptoms: Malfunction Indicator Light illumination, engine no-start/no-sparkÂ
condition, occasional cylinder misfire, engine die-out or no-start after extended drivingÂ
condition with an engine re-start after a cool down period.
